You Weren't Meant to Feel Like This

Somewhere between turning 30 and becoming responsible for literally everything, a lot of us stopped feeling like ourselves.

We're tired, but we can't sleep. We're anxious, but we don't always know why. Our backs hurt after sitting at a desk all day, our skin suddenly starts acting like we're 14 again, we forget why we walked into the kitchen, and somehow we're expected to optimize our morning routine before 6:00 a.m. while drinking green juice and answering emails. No thanks.

At Skin x Bones, we're not chasing the latest wellness trend. We're much more interested in answering a different question.

Why do so many women feel awful, even when they're doing everything "right?"

The answer usually isn't one thing. Bodies don't work like that. More often, it's a handful of systems quietly asking for help while we've been taught to ignore them or view the struggle as a capitalist brownie point. These are the conversations we're excited to have.

Your nervous system deserves better than survival mode.

Stress isn't just emotional. It's physical. When your nervous system is constantly on high alert, your body doesn't care whether you're running from a bear or trying to answer fifteen Slack messages while your phone buzzes every thirty seconds. It reacts the same way.

Modern life hasn't exactly helped. We live in an environment engineered to fight for our attention every waking minute, and for many people that constant stimulation has amplified attention problems, making ADHD symptoms harder to recognize and even harder to manage.

If you've ever felt like your brain has seventeen browser tabs open and one of them is playing music but you can't figure out which one, we get it.

This is why we're diving into stress, burnout, anxiety, depression, nervous system regulation, and what actually helps. Not "just meditate." Not "take a vacation." Real things.

We'll be sharing breathing exercises that don't feel awkward, bedtime rituals you'll actually want to stick with, and yes, we're already dreaming up a pillow spray that smells like your brain finally decided to log off for the night.

We'd also love to create bath soaks that aren't just pretty jars of overpriced salt. Ones made with magnesium flakes, soothing botanicals, and scents that make taking twenty minutes for yourself feel like a necessity instead of a guilty pleasure.

Because sometimes healing starts with sitting in a bathtub and refusing to answer your phone.

Strength is self-care.

Can we collectively stop acting like back pain is just something women are supposed to live with? Your body was built to move. Not to hunch over a laptop for nine hours, drive home, scroll TikTok on the couch, then wonder why your neck feels like concrete.

Strength training isn't about chasing a certain body. It's about carrying your own luggage without throwing your back out. It's about getting off the floor without using the coffee table for leverage or grunting like your dad. It's about feeling capable.

We'll talk about posture. We'll cover mobility, stretching, recovery, walking, lifting weights, and finding movement you genuinely enjoy because the best workout is still the one you'll actually do.

Maybe you're not lazy.

Maybe you're low on iron. Or vitamin D. Or B12. Fatigue has become so normalized that we've started competing over who sleeps the least.

That's... weird.

Iron deficiency is incredibly common in women, especially if you have regular or heavy periods. Vitamin D deficiency is widespread. B12 can quietly affect your energy, mood, memory, and concentration. None of these deficiencies make you a failure. They make you human.

We'll help you understand what these nutrients actually do, when it makes sense to ask your doctor about testing, and how nutrition fits into the bigger picture instead of treating oral supplements like a crutch.

That said, we'd love to formulate supplements that earn a permanent spot on your bathroom counter. Not because they have trendy ingredients you've never heard of, but because they're thoughtfully made, transparently sourced, and based on what women are actually missing.

No fillers. No "proprietary blend." No ingredient list that requires a chemistry degree.

Hormones aren't trying to ruin your life.

They're trying to get your attention. PCOS. Endometriosis. Thyroid disorders. Perimenopause.

These are not niche conditions. Millions of women live with them, and many spend years being told everything is "within normal limits" while they know something feels off. We're not here to diagnose you through a blog post, but we are here to help you ask better questions.

We'll talk about symptoms that deserve attention, myths that need to disappear, and ways to support your body that are grounded in research instead of internet folklore.

Sleep changes everything.

You can eat well, exercise consistently, take your vitamins, drink enough water, and still get terrible sleep.

If your sleep isn't up to par, everything gets harder. Sleep is where your body repairs itself. Your brain organizes memories, hormones reset, and your immune system catches up. Skip enough of it and before you know it, every problem feels bigger than it really is.

We're fascinated by sleep because it's connected to almost every other part of wellness.

That's why one of our dream products is a nightly ritual kit. A calming tea. A pillow mist. A magnesium bath soak. Maybe ok, a candle.

Nothing complicated. Just things that make going to bed feel like something to look forward to.

And then there's the journal.

Not the kind with prompts like, "Describe your highest self." Respectfully... No. We want to make a journal that feels like talking to your smartest, funniest friend. One that helps you notice patterns in your mood, sleep, energy, cycle, habits, and stress without turning it into homework.

Each page featuring a unique prompt to help you start or settle your day. That's a journal we'd actually use.

What Skin x Bones is really about

We aren't trying to convince you that you're broken. Honestly, we think you've probably spent enough time doing fantastic and still feeling like you needed fixing. We want to build products that solve real problems instead of creating new insecurities. We want to explain research without making it boring. We want to laugh a little because wellness has become so painfully serious that it's starting to forget the point.

Feeling good shouldn't require a spreadsheet, seventeen supplements, and a second mortgage. It should feel attainable, accessible, and calming.

It should feel like someone finally made wellness for women who have real jobs, real responsibilities, real stress, and real lives.

That's what we're building. We hope you'll build it with us.
